Evelyn's Birth Story | November 2023

I’m so excited to share Evelyn’s birth story through photos in this blog post! 🤩 One of the best decisions I made was hiring Jenna Toulantis, a local birth doula and photographer. She supported me during birth and also took professional birth photos. I will treasure these forever and can’t wait for Evie to have these when she’s older!

If you’d like to listen to my birth story, I recorded it in detail on The New Mamas Podcast.

So happy finally eating a slice of pizza 🍕 I had gestational diabetes in my third trimester and couldn’t eat more than 30g of carbs, so I thoroughly enjoyed this slice of pizza at the hospital before they broke my water!

The calm before the storm! After they broke my water and started the pitocin, I opted to rest on the bed. I knew that when things started to ramp up that I would need all of my energy.

Contractions started to ramp up here so I started to use the yoga ball and combs for comfort.

When contractions started to hit their peak intensity, I asked to switch out of the robe into my tank top.

Shortly after this last photo was taken, the anesthesiologist arrived to administer my epidural. The second he was done giving me the epidural, I felt the need to push! If you go to minute 47 on my podcast, you can hear hospital audio of Evie’s birth. Having that audio is so special, I can’t thank John enough for remembering to capture it.

The next morning after Evelyn was born, John brought Archie to the hospital to meet his baby sister! It was such a special moment as he was so excited to meet her. Three weeks later, he’s still so in love with her. He’s always commenting on how cute she is and giving her little kisses. He’s the best kid. I’m so lucky.

And just like that, I’m a mom of two beautiful babies. “For this child, I have prayed.” 1 Samuel 1:27-28 ❤️ God is so good. Our family is so blessed!
